Super Mario for the Genesis?

By Spencer . January 21, 2006 . 4:19am

Super Mario for the Genesis? This an obvious pirate cart, but it still has us intrigued. Mario on the house of Sonic how rare is that! Then there’s the cover art with Mario riding some sort of deranged cross between Bowser and Yoshi. On the back of the game are a couple of random gameplay screenshots, one resembles Super Mario Brothers. The other two, well it’s anyone’s guess to what Mario is doing.

I’ve actually played this. Haven’t got past level 4 though. Its trying to be Super Mario Bros 1. But the gameplay is *much* different, it takes some getting used to. Jumping on enemies will NOT kill them, it’ll kill you. Instead, you can throw boxes, or shoot fireballs (limited ammo). Graphics are nice, music and gameplay are weird.

There are three roms dumps out there. One is PAL, the other two are NTSC. Other than that, I see no difference between the three.

Lol this is not pirated. I can’t beleive nobody knows what this game is! When Nintendo and Sega were fighting in the SNES/Genesis generation you all know Sega was winning. Anyways Sega made a deal in which Sega gave an undisclosed amount of money to Nintendo so Nintendo would let them do a Mario gamefor the genesis to be only released in Brazil. This is a very rare find and you could sell it in ebay for a good amount since very few got to be imported to the US (since it was in portuguese, fans had to find ways to first translate it and at that time it would have taken a serious pro hacker to rip a cart, translate it and burn it back on the cart, of course if you have one unopened from box it would sell for a few hundreds).
