Prototype Microsoft Controller?

By Spencer . March 20, 2006 . 1:57pm

The defunct Acclaim Games’ inventory has been trickling its way on to the Internet. We’ve seen development PS2 units, NR Gamecubes and even a Dolphin test station. Now there’s a prototype gamepad with drivers online. The dealer says he found this unit in a box with assorted Xbox and PC stuff. It looks like a regular Sidewinder Pro PC gamepad, but there’s always that 1 in a million chance that there is something special about it.

Update: It looks like there are few differences (if any) between this "prototype" and a Sidewinder Pro. In fact an expert on the controller tipped us off that this is a fake prototype. Thanks to the importer for this tip.

Take a lucky shot on eBay if you want to pick this up.

As far as I know it’s Acclaim entertainment that was defunct, so how you can wright that Acclaim games is defunct when their site is up and running? What has to do the first two lines of your article with the rest? Misleading businness information?Throwing shit on a company that tries it way up again? Why?Give proofs of what you’re stating!

The Acclaim games you’re probably thinking of (i.e. the company that made the Simpsons games, Turok and so forth is closed). They filed a chapter 7 bankruptcy on September 1st 2004. When they did this they liquidated their remaining inventory including many test PS2s and equipment like this possibly prototype controller were talking about in the article. Also when Acclaim was liquidated the rights to their name and their URL were sold. A new company located in Beverly Hills got the name and is now using it for free online games. This is not the same Acclaim youre thinking of and in no way are we (or have we ever) bashed the old Acclaim or the new company. The article was about a possible Sidewinder prototype which the eBay seller claimed to obtain via purchasing excess inventory from the liquidation of the original Acclaim.
