They filed a chapter 7 bankruptcy on September 1st 2004. When they did this they liquidated their remaining inventory including many test PS2s and equipment like this possibly prototype controller we’re talking about in the article. Also when “Acclaim” was liquidated the rights to their name and their URL were sold. A new company located in Beverly Hills got the name and is now using it for free online games. This is not the same Acclaim you’re thinking of and in no way are we (or have we ever) bashed the old Acclaim or the new company. The article was about a possible Sidewinder prototype which the eBay seller claimed to obtain via purchasing excess inventory from the liquidation of the original Acclaim.
