Cell phone games give off a fuzzy signal

By Spencer . April 13, 2006 . 7:57am

A recent survey conducted by I-play included 300 participants with about equal ratios of male and female gamers who downloaded a game on to their cell phone in the past six months. The survey says:

When asked, how satisfied are you with the mobile games you play?

- 21% said very satisfied
- 58% said satisfied
- 21% said not satisfied

When asked, is your mobile gaming experience better than expected, as expected or not good?

- 15% said better than expected
- 63% said as expected
- 22% said not as good as expected

When asked, would you recommend playing mobile games to a friend?

- 71% said yes
- 29% said no

I-play discovered what many people already know about mobile gaming, most people like, but they don’t love playing games on their cell phone. That’s not to say that there aren’t some excellent cell phone games out there, Skipping Stone and Lemonade Tycoon immediately come to mind. But the mobile phone gaming industry still has a lot of room to grow and plenty of creative avenues to explore before gamers become “very satisfied”.
