Halo 3 sparks Xbox 360 interest in Japan

According to the Famitsu reader’s most wanted next generation games list Halo 3 jumped to the number ten spot. At E3 Microsoft only revealed a teaser trailer of the game, but the short segment with Master Chief made a huge impression on Japanese gamers. Halo 3 is the only Xbox 360 and North American developed game on the top ten list. The top three games Famitsu’s readers are interested in are the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Final Fantasy XIII and Metal Gear Solid 4. Microsoft knows the power of the Halo brand, but they’re probably a little surprised that Halo 3 made the list while the 360 games developed specifically for Japan, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey were not where to be found.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s overrated or not. It’s gaining a ton of money because it’s actually popular. Overrated means it’s just too hyped up and not worth playing…but if it wasn’t worth playing, why are so many people buying it?
