The FUNimation panel at Comic Con announced three titles that are recommended for the masses who want an introductory of this growing form of entertainment. The titles include "Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles", "Crayon Shin-Chan," and "Witchblade." These titles highlights the past "mecha" style of anime in Robotech, the present form of sophisticated interplay of language in Crayon Shin-Chan, and the future of franchise cross-overs in Witchblade.
Robotech: Shadow Chronicles - This movie is considered as a "first true sequel" to the popular anime series in 1985. The popularity spawned the creation of Robotech comics, novels, and games. The resurgence of the new Robetech movie will expose the modern anime market to "Mecha," one of the components in the initial success of the anime industry.
Crayon Shin-Chan - Adult Swim has picked up this series for an August release, however the time and date is still in the works. Since its debut in Japan in 1992, the 5-year old leading character Shin-Chan has been deemed "the Japanese Bart Simpson." However, his behavior is driven by ignorance rather then deliberate mischief.
Witchblade - With the collaboration of Top Cow and GONZO, hit 90’s comic book series featuring an illegitimate bearer of a sentient blade is recreated into an anime. To celebrate the successful cross-over, Top cow has featured an anime cover on the comic’s 100th issue.
