Hayate the Combat Butler, Vol. 1
Story and Art by Kenjiro Hata
Publish Date: November 21st
This manga by Kenjiro Hata presents a humorous twist to the meaning ‘destiny.’ Hardworking sixteen year old Hayate Ayasaki’s world is turned upside down on Christmas Eve when he discovers that his unemployed gambling parents have offered to sell his organs to the yakuza, to cover the large debt payments. Out of desperation to plan to pay back the yakuza, Hayate makes a petty attempt to kidnap Nagi Sanzenin a daughter from a wealthy upbringing in exchange for ransom. Oddly enough, Nagi mistaken Hayate’s intentions as an act of love, and subsequently hires him to be her personal butler. The miscommunication continues to grow as the head butler Klaus and caretaker Maria challenges Hayate on the duties of being a worthy Sanzenin servant.
