Trauma Center opened doors for the medical drama genre, but Kenshuui Tendo Dokuta was first DS doctor game. While Trauma Center bases its gameplay from doing complex surgeries, Tendo Dokuta is really an adventure game with a medical theme. Surgery doesn’t require lightning fast hands or two styli. Instead you’re going to spend time being a doctor, meaning you’re going to talk with patients rather than fight sci-fi parasites. 4ColorRebellion picked up that in Europe G-Stars is picking the game up for localization. Under the new name of Lifesigns it looks the game is coming out in English in the near future.

Trauma Center really opened up a world of opportunity for the medical-drama game scene, but an onslaught of similarly based titles can be deleterious for the genre as well. I really hope this game delivers and does not end up becoming some lame clone of previously successful titles. Let us hope that the genre stays innovative and fresh or else we can predict the future of medically-oriented games; performing a colonoscopy in the next installment of Trauma Center entitled TC: Proctologist.
