One additional game appeared in the Virtual Console shop for Japanese Wii owners and it was the TurboGrafix-16 release of R-Type. R-Type is a side scrolling shooter, which is well remembered for force ship attachment. The force acts as a mobile gunpod and can be shot out like a living weapon. When you’re faced against the first boss you can shoot the force into the Dobkeratops mouth to kill it quickly. Battle the Bydo empire (again) for the price of 600 points.
R-Type brings back good memories, both on the TG-16 and original GameBoy. I still remember playing some portable R-Type in the weirdest locations, which I won’t mention here. :)
Seconded Symphony. It’s like every cool thing Nintendo does has to be crippled in some way.
Still, R-Type, at least, will probably make it outside of Japan eventually. Bomberman ‘94, however, I’m less sure of — did it ever see other shores on the PC Engine/TG16?
Yea, it was given an NA release as far as I know. If not Bomberman 94 why not Super Bomberman. Blah. I’ll try to make this my final Bomberman related comment. I think I’m up around 4-5 now. I wonder if any of the super scope games will ever be released.
