Rumor control: No Space Channel 5 on the Wii

Rumor control: No Space Channel 5 on the WiiWith the lack of news rumors have been popping up all around the internet. The latest one is actually a little trickier to figure out. A “scan” of Space Channel 5 for the Wii started circulating around 2chan. The fake page looks fairly authentic with the layout, but the text doesn’t match the pictures. The article is actually talking about the control schemes in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz. The dead giveaway besides the lack of text about Ulala is that Aiai (the main monkey in Super Monkey Ball) has his name in big print in front of the article. Also United Game Artists has long disbanded and many of the key players including Space Channel 5’s visionary, Tetsuya Mizuguchi, are over at Q Entertainment. You can see the dubious article past the break.

Oh well, could have been fun, but I still have my copy for the PS2.

:( Space Channel 5 on the Wii would be awesome the game might would be a hell of a lot more fun swinging your arms around to do Ulala’s moves than pressing buttons. BTW good eye on picking out that its fake.

Sega really lost a great man when Tetsuya Mizuguchi left the company, but thankfully he’s still pushing out quality titles like N3 or Lumines (with Lumines following in Space Channel 5′s footsteps by having a strong focus with the soundtrack).

Gotta agree with you, IceAmp. Flailing your arms around following Ulala’s movements may seem pretty silly, but as long as you’re with friends and having fun, it doesn’t matter in the end. After all, that’s why we play video games: to have a good time.
