AtomRemember The Red Star?
Before Acclaim closed its doors they were working on a Contra style shoot ‘em up based on the comic book series the Red Star. After Acclaim went belly up the fate of the title wasn’t certain. Then all of the sudden XS Games picked up as a budget title, supposedly for a release in 2006. After all of the hype the game faded away again, but now it looks like we’re finally going to play Red Star in 2007. EB Games has a release date set for 02.15.07 and while I don’t typically trust EB Games as a reliable source for release dates they have something new, cover art. Back in the summer I played a final build of the Red Star, so the game is done. It’s a mix between Smash TV and Ikaruga. During the boss fights you’re going to have to use those bullet dodging skills. It’s not as bad as a bullet hell game, but the Red Star has its challenging moments.

I had the cracked version for a while. Great fun, but I’m stuck now.

Oh cool, I remember playing a demo on the XBox a while back and really liking it. And according to Wikipedia, the release is planned for the PS2, which is great because I don’t own an XBOX or 360. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for this.

I played the game at a con before. Honesty I didn’t think it was very good… it’s the type of thing that would get boring very quickly. But I absolutely love the comics!

don’t listen to this garbage… the game rocks. very fun action title. this guy grew up on the PS1…. ignored!!

Sa-weet! I’ve been waiting for a decent shooter for a while (last decent one I played was Xyanide…meh), and this game especially.
