Announcing Naruto: Ninja Council 3

By Spencer . January 3, 2007 . 3:47am

Announcing Naruto: Ninja Council 3D3 Publisher isn’t wasting anytime bringing more Naruto games to North America. After Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2 they are releasing their first Naruto DS game, Naruto: Ninja Council 3 in the first quarter of 2007. You might know Naruto: Ninja Council 3 as Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 4, the arena Naruto fighting game. In the game you can pick a Naruto character and clear a stage by beating up all of the snakes or by fighting a rival character. There are twenty playable characters in the game and a customizable system where you can pick techniques from partner characters in battle. Since this is the fourth game in the Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu series there are going be changes so the game fits into the place of the anime. As you can see the number of characters has dwindled down and Naruto’s having the rasengan is in question. See some screenshots of the Japanese game below and we’ll keep you posted with more info on Naruto: Ninja Council 3.

D3 Publisher is making a mistake by skipping over Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 3 by localizing its sequel first. While the GBA market is less active now when compared to the DS, with the right marketing and considering how popular the Naruto franchise is in the States to begin with (arguably the biggest anime series we’ve seen in the West since DBZ in its heyday) they will have no problem making a profit off this game from fans. It isn’t as if DS owners would miss out on the title anyway, as all GBA games are backwards compatible with the DS, making the game easily accessible to them.

Actually Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 3 is for the DS too. I think they’re skipping over it mainly because of story issues it has the Sound Five clearly in it and if it were to come over they would have to pretty much remake the entire game. Since the DS is going to be around for awhile there is a fair chance we’ll see the game later on when the anime catches up to that point.

Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 3 is for the DS, eh? Didn’t realize that. Anyway, it makes perfect sense. Almost similar to how originally the FF titles weren’t released in order of their launch from Japan back during the 8 and 16-bit eras (although that had more to do with RPGs not being as profitable back then when compared to now).
