This game is definitely the hardest one in the series. Some of those early battles are brutal -- I think the Brave Clear on the Chapter 4 battle is one of the hardest battles in the series.

I agree with you that the text sometimes gets tedious; it's not as bad as Super Robot Wars, but sometimes you just want to get on with the game. You can hold down circle + X to speed through the cutscenes which is good for people who do not read Japanese.

One thing you forgot to mention is the attractive 2nd playthrough bonus of alternate endings and new plot scenes sprinkled throughout (plus the ability to carry over some stuff). There are also a huge number of cameos from all four previous SN games (including SNEX).

damn this game is too fun. sure it's gameplay is very basic, but that makes it good for those that will miss the story b/c of the inability to understand japanese. I'm not fluent in japanese but the game is still fun.... hard for me though... but nothing that a bit of over levelling can do. btw you can skip thru the dialouge with R2+X, and though the field on the map stays the same in free battles, the monsters don't. And yes.. the artwork is awesome... and no it's not related to the SCS series, however! the main female character looks exactly like the girl from the 2nd SCS just with the hair colour of the girl from SCS 1.

I'm surprised that Atlus hasn't brought one of the PS2 Summon Nights over yet, considering they love SRPGs. Maybe they don't want anything competing with their N1 SRPGs.
