The casual games of Windows Vista

Windows Vista is coming out real soon and Microsoft isn’t forgetting about gamers. In their new MSN games channel they have a hodgepodge selection for causal gamers to start out with. Some of the games you’ve seen before over Xbox Live like Crystal Quest and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. Four of the games are actually out, but they have Windows Vista “enhanced” features. Darwinia immediately caught my eye. It was released by Introversion software a couple of years ago and eventually distributed via Steam. Darwinia is sort of like an arcade game and sort of like a god sim where you help protect green men from an impending computer virus. It’s a really neat title and I’m curious how it’s going to be enhanced through MSN Games’ new platform. Also how is Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved going to work with out an Xbox 360 controller? I can’t imagine playing it with a mouse and having the same sense of control.

Here is the list of the first eight games:

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved

Crystal Quest

Spinwords

Jewel Quest 2

7 Wonders of the Ancient World

Darwinia

Luxor 2

Bliss Island
