Original Monkey Island painting on eBay

Over on GameSetWatch I see this posting talking about original Money Island art and I get all excited. Turns out to be the painting that was done to use as the artwork on the back of the box of Secret of Monkey Island 3. And where can you go and buy it? In the same place where all "its" can be found… on eBay.

 

I speak of the original painting used for the back cover art from Secret of Monkey Island 2. Now only does it look incredibly sweet but the picture is being held by a skeleton wearing a pirate hat! Do you have any ideas how many points that scores with me???

 

So I’m all over this, ready to blow some dough to get a quick monkey island fix… then I see the price. $995. ouch.

 

I love Monkey Island, and that price in all honesty (as far as original paintings go) is probably worth it… But it’s too rich for my blood. No matter how sweet this pics make it look.
