The Fancy Pants Adventure

Only a few of the hundreds, nay thousands, of web-based free games happily floating around the net are worth your precious time, oh enlightened readers, and you know it. The Fancy Pants Adventure, on the other hand, is definitely one of those rare gems you must absolutely try, if only to admire its excellent art direction, interesting music and unique style. The game -shockingly featuring a swift stickman wearing fancy pants- is a highly stylised Sonic the Hedgehog clone. A fast paced and not particularly difficult 2D platformer, in other words. Play it here. Alternatively, why not have a look at some other hand-picked web games and thingies (including Metal Slug no less)? Well, clicky, clicky, then.

I’m afraid that the link posted is quite broken for one reason or another. From your description it sounds worth a try, pitty.
