Watch: Eyeshield 21 in action

By Spencer . March 5, 2007 . 12:12pm

The Eyeshield 21 TV commercial shines some more light on how the game is going to play. In the short spot players use the remote to kick a ball by lifting it up, pass by moving the controller forward and then catching the ball by pressing A when the football flies through a target. The most interesting part comes at the end where one player is on defense and the other running the ball. A menu pops up and players move their remote up or down to decide the play. On the offensive side one player moves the remote up and on the defense the player moves the remote down. Since they pick opposite choices the running back blazes past the defense and completes the play. More people have been voicing Eyeshield 21 Wii coverage, but I’m not that familiar with the series. If I pick this up and cover it will you forgive me for not knowing who the characters are? Or better yet, educate me?

Yea man, it’ll be fine if you don’t know who the characters are. I could help educate. If you describe someone I can tell you who they are. Great thing about the series is that characters are unique in their own way. Still a great series that I recommend though (the manga, not the anime… the anime drags a lot out).

Basically, any coverage is better than none!

  • This is the first game I’ll buy when a freeloader for the Wii is finally out. I enjoyed a lot the DS version of the game and I’m in love with the manga. Probably one of the best sports mangas out there.

  • Steingrímur Jóhannesson

Holy crap. I don´t even like “rugby” but this game relly interests me!

  • I feel the same as Steingrimur there : I’m not specially instered in american football (I think that’s what it is, not rugby : they’re wearing helmets), but this game appeals me very much. Reminds me a lot of the Captain Tsubasa anime, with very exagerated and spectacular moves.

I saw the latest commerical too. Definitely picking this up if there’s a Wii freeloader. Yes, Eyeshield 21 is probably the best sports manga that came along after Slam Dunk, I didn’t even like Football that much before (more of a british football fan), but this manga made it seem so exciting w/ excellent story and art. This game seems to cover up until the “Bantou Spiders”. Right now the latest manga is at the re-match btwn Devil Bats & Ojou White Knights.
