Hands on Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn’s first battle

I haven’t had much time to spend with Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn, but so far it’s just the same Fire Emblem you know and love. The game uses classic controller style where you hold the remote like a Nintendo gamepad. Players use the D-pad to navigate around the battlefield. The “2” button confirms and selects units while the “1” button cancels. The A button brings up the main menu and the plus button shows the map with the enemy unit positions. One clever set up is Intelligent Systems used the B button for alternate controls. If you hold it and press the “2” button you rotate through available units. Holding the “B” button and pressing “1” shows a characters status. Besides the new controls, Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn is the same strategy RPG where swords best axes with a few new characters. In the first episode you have four members of the Dawn group in your party. Noyce is the group’s tank, he’s the bigger, mustached character in red carrying an iron axe. Eddie is a swordfighter, but his HP isn’t high enough to absorb too many hits.  Leonardo is your first archer who can hit troops one square away with his iron bow. Last, but not least is Michiah who has heavily damaging light, but like most mages her HP is low and she can’t move very far. Past the break is a demonstration of the first battle and the events that happen after the battle is won…
