Slightly cheaper import Playstation 3

With all of the hype about Playstation Home and the rumor that future Playstation 3s will emulate PS2s instead of having a built in chip has some people itching to pick one up. Midnight Box has 60 GB (premium) PS3s at the discount price of $524.95 including shipping. Besides saving money this PS3 is a Japanese PS3, which lets you play import PS2/PS1 games and all Playstation 3 games. Plus you get the benefit (or curse?) of getting Japanese downloadable content and PSP games. Not a bad deal considering it’s under the retail price of a US PS3.

the is no lock on downloadable content…you just have to create different account for each region…but eversince Sony closed the CC thingy..it’s hard to buy games on different region :-(

There is no region lockout for games on any PS3. The only region lockout is for DVDs.

Ps3 games are region free but PS2 and PS1 not. This is why only Japanese Ps3 can handle them.

I don’t think there’s ever been a console launch more @#$%^& up than the European PS3 launch.

Yep, Euro gamers always get the short end of the stick, remember the whole Lik-sang fiaco, damn Sony.

Actually when I bought my PS3, I had considered getting a Jpn one (which was a better deal w/ free shipping, here it’s about $650 after tax) since most of my PS2 games are imports. But I picked one up from Best Buy when I think about the BR-D movies I’d be watching in the future. So now I still need to have my PS2 hooked up because the backward compatibility is region locked. Regardless, one would still need to buy the 8 MB memory card adapter. I know the PS3 is at its infancy and good games would come out eventually.. For now, the 360 is giving me more fun thanks to Sakaguchi.

It’s almost as if SONY didn’t plan a single thing headed with the PS3 and are just adding and changing things as they go along by observing what others are doing. It’s almost as if they weren’t ready for the PS3 yet, but wanted to launch it because the competition was way on it’s way with their new consoles.

What’s there to think about? Japan and North America are in the same Blu-Ray region.

Aoshi00 Says:

I was going to amend what I said after digging up more info after my post, I just discovered there are only 3 regions for Blu-Ray w/ both Jpn and US belonging to “A”,as opposed to DVD having 6 regions, I assumed the BR would follow the similar fashion.

Oh well, I still need to have either my Jpn or US PS2 hooked up regardless since PS3 isn’t region-free backward compatible, thanks to Sony.
