On Thursday the 22nd, Sony will release their newest firmware for the PS3 (ver 1.6). The update includes background downloading as well as various odds and ends, but what seems to be the most anticipated addition is Stanford’s distributed computing program for finding cures for diseases, Folding@Home.
Over on the official Playstation message boards there’s a call out for everyone to get together Sunday night to get as many people together as possible to run the program. It’s being called the Sunday night Fold-a-thon (S.N.F.). It’s a fan run thing and has no connection to Sony or Stanford, but from the amount of replies so far it looks like it should be pretty successful.
So if you’ve got yourself a swanky PS3, why not join in?
