Slightly updated Square-Enix release schedule

By Spencer . March 26, 2007 . 5:22am

Since the Square-Enix party is coming up soon a few new games have release windows instead of vague 2007 release dates. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors is coming out sooner than expected. It has a spring 2007 release window so we might see it in May and at the latest in June. Itadaki Street DS, which has Mario and Dragon Quest mashed together, is scheduled to come out in the summer. Meanwhile all of the Final Fantasy XIII games have vague to be determined release dates, which suggests we might not see them until 2008. Here is what Square-Enix has planned for Japan in 2007:

April 19

Final Fantasy (20th Anniversary)

April 26

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

May 10

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War

June 7

Final Fantasy II (20th Anniversary)

2007 Spring

Dragon Quest Swords

2007 Summer

Dragon Quest Monster Battle Road

Itadaki Street DS

2007

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete (blu-ray)

It’s a Wonderful World

Release Date TBD

Final Fantasy XIII

Final Fantasy Versus XIII

Final Fantasy Agito XIII

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates

Out of the 2007 games Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War, It’s a Wonderful World and Dragon Quest Swords are on my playlist. Which of these games are you most looking forward to?

Jeff R. Says:

Maybe Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War to be honest. Of course that depends whether or not the game will support infrastructure multi-player which I doubt but you never know.

Donnington Says:

I was hoping for some FF Tactics Advance 2 news, but I guess I’ll just have to get by with trying to import Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War (not that that’s a bad thing).

Louise Says:

I was thrilled to see FFXII:RW was going to be released at the end of April. Until I re-read it and saw it was the Japanese release date. What a let down!

Roli O. Says:

So does that mean I can finally have my own copy of It’s A Wonderful World, Square-Enix? THank you so much.

As for the list, I think I’m more inclinced to purchasing FFXII: Revenant Wings and FFT: Lion War than any of the rest. FF and FFII PSP can wait since I’ve played them so many times (looks @ GBA compilation, PSOne compilation, NES/Famicom carts of both I and II).

Spencer Says:

Louise - sorry to bring your hopes up then dash them down!

Roli O. - I feel the same way about FF1 and FF2 PSP. I’m sort of curious what kind of new dungeon FF2 PSP is going to have, clash of Final Fantasy protagonists from Final Fantasy IV? If that were the case I would buy it right away.

Roli O. Says:

What?! The cast of FFIV vs. cast of FFII? Cecil > Frionel!

Spencer Says:

Not confirmed in the least, just a dream wish of mine. Cecil versus Frionel, Kain versus Richard, Mario versus Rosa… what a fight that could be.

Aoshi00 Says:

DQ Swords, can’t wait, great and detailed Toriyama char. design too.

Hyperfludd Says:

Wheres Final Fantasy Tactics A2? :(
