Here is an interesting non game DS title coming up that supposedly helps people walk “better”. Duke Sariaie’s: Healthy Walking Navi teaches people the “Dukeswalk” system and instead of watching on DVD you can view the lessons while walking outside. The lessons are taught with animations and pictures on the DS’ top screen while Duke narrates. You can also use the Duke Timer mode to have him yellow out encouraging slogans while you’re out walking around. The package costs 4,200 yen ($35) and it comes out on May 15 in Japan. While no US publisher is going to pick this up, maybe some other company might borrow the idea of making Nintendo DS software with a virtual personal trainer.

The Japanese self-improvement phenomenon has finally gone too far. Does the populace stumble around like drunken monkeys or something? Is there that large of a market for this sort of thing, teaching how to do something you should have learned when you were 1 & 1/2 years old? If so, I’m flying to Japan to market “Icupnimpn2’s ‘Now You Can Pee Too’ Potty Training DS Deluxe Green Leaf Edition.”
