Grand Theft Auto IV: Life out of Balance

I knew there was something familiar when I watched the GTA trailer, turns out the video was a throwback to the 80’s arthouse movie Koyaanisqatsi. The movie was meant to show how the planet around us is reacting to humans’ presence. A lot of it is shown in high-speed and it’s all done without sound, just a score by Phillip Glass. And that score was lifted and used directly in the GTA Trailer, which is what first made me associate the two.

It’s a pretty cool and obscure reference, we’ll have to wait and see to find out if any of the movie’s themes make it into the game (probably not).

Here’s the trailer for the movie, the GTA trailer is after the jump.
