Tingle’s Balloon Fight is one of those “rare” or hard to get games that you have to order directly from Club Nintendo in Japan. It’s a stretched out version of Balloon Fight from the NES except instead of playing as one of the Balloon Fighter’s you play as Tingle. Since the game is stretched over two screens you have much more room to fly around in. It’s most notable when you play “Balloon Trip”, where the screen automatically scrolls to the right and you have to dodge floating spikes. Since you can fly on either top or bottom screen it seems like the DS remake is much easier than the original. While you’re flying around in Balloon Trip there are rupees strapped to balloons that Tingle can snag and increase his score. Other than that, Tingle’s Balloon Fight is pretty much like the other games except Tingle is the star and there is wireless multiplayer for up to four people. It’s a neat bonus for Nintendo fans and you can see some (blurry-digital-camera-quality) screenshots past the break.
Actually, it’s a funny thing….
The very original version of the game. Vs. Balloon Fight for arcades for, I believe, the DuoSystem hardware, had a very DS-like screen layout. It seems it was meant for Punch-Out!! hardware, which also had two screens vertically stacked but didn’t use the top one for much. Vs. Balloon Fight on the other hand used the screens to form one gigantic playfield.
(It also had cooler music in the bonus rounds.)
I managed to find a used copy of this in Akihabara about two weeks ago. Was it worth the $25 or so I paid for it?
No.
But, I mean, it’s fucking Tingle.
Me thinks so, I paid $40 for a sealed one.
Mines coming in a few days, My sealed game and wacth had the normal case wraped up and inside a stickered down club nintendo box, Does TBF ?
If it comes with the cardoard box cool, If not I think it’s around $30 (I think, so me thinks u did good : ) ).
Mine came the other day, it’s alot better than game and watch collections IMO, I don’t think it really warrents a full price tag but then it’s not ment to :D, it’s good for what it is.
The multiplayer seems like a nice addtion to the game (I havn’t tried it yet though).
Also you can change the music theirs an option in the options menu somewhere, I think it’s changes it back to the orginal music.
