Ubisoft’s take on Naruto

By Spencer . May 3, 2007 . 4:59pm

Viz Media worked out a deal to grant the Naruto license with Ubisoft and they are currently working on a “next-gen” Naruto title. Details on the Naruto 360 have been scarce, but Deeko News pointed us to an article on a Jeuxactu (note: in French) that has an exclusive screenshot of Ubisoft Montreal’s project. It’s hard to tell much from a single screenshot, that isn’t even action oriented, but the plastic cel-shading looks nice.

That screenshot looks REALLY good. Its not the first screenshot we’ve seen though. There was another screenshot in the past showing a mini-game featuring the tree-climbing exercise and it was interesting to note that it looked like it operated exactly like the tree-climbing minigames in the Narutimate Hero 3 series.

I hope the game is huge. Maybe sandbox style. Go anywhere, but abandon village and get a star and the ANBU(Police) come after you.

No way, but still.

Screen looks cool

I wouldn’t say it’s exclusive. Check the May 2007 issue of Play Magazine. They’ve got 4 screen shots and paragraph write-up of the game on page 42 of the issue.

I’m very curious about how well Ubi is going to interpret the license. Just on visuals alone they’ve stepped it up a notch, so if gameplay delivers as well, I’ll be damned if Naruto 360 won’t be the first anime licensed game I’m drooling over.

The screens also look insanely beautiful, and I hope some video drops sooner rather than later.

never seen Naruto, but this screen looks dope!! look forward to finding out more.

Looks nice but single static shots may be misleading. You know Photoshop powaaa make up ;) Can’t wait to see this game in action, some vids maybe ?

The feeling I get looking at this is the same feeling I got looking at the first piece of art for FFXII. That bodes well.
