Banpresto has a unique DS game coming out next week that has little attention. Before you read about Custom Beat Battle: Draglade forget what you know about Def Jam Icon. Like EA’s title Banpresto’s game mashes the rhythm/music and fighting genres together, but there is more going on than interacting with the background music. Players build their fighter by selecting what element (fire, water, earth, lightning, etc.) they want and create their own KoroKoro combo where you have to press buttons at the right time to do damage. It’s sort of like Konami’s Bemani system, except that it’s integrated into the combat engine. There are few original fighting games out there so I’m thinking that this is worth checking out when it comes out on May 17. See the trailer past the break and let us know if we should cover this or not.
This is why I come on Siliconera: obscure and promising games.
We have enough of Gears of wars and Sam & Max on the net.
Cover Custom Beat Battle: Draglade for sure. With little to no information about this game anywhere on the Internet, it’s the perfect mystery title to unveil here on Siliconera.
The DS is really shaping up to be a great handheld for 2D fighters, now that I think about it. I haven’t seen a portable with so many enjoyable fighting games that actually translate well to the control scheme since the Neo Geo Pocket Color before it.
Wow, sounds great. Plus with Wi-Fi play, I wonder if this would become an instant hit in Jpn.

This is exactly the sort of hyper-enthusiastic, quirky Japanese game that Siliconera should cover, thanks
