The Playstation 2’s “Buzz”

Sony didn’t have many Playstation 2 titles on display at their Gamers Day. Hot Shots Tennis was around and there was Buzz! The Mega Quiz. It’s a trivia game developed in Europe where you use Buzz Buzzers to answer multiple choice questions. Once a question appears on screen players press one of the colored buttons to respond and up to eight people can play Buzz at the same time. Buzz! The Mega Quiz is bundled with four of the buzzers required to play the game. Buzz doesn’t look like the kind of game to attract the hardcore gamer audience, instead there is a chance that Buzz might open the doors for new Playstation 2 owners. The plan might work since the Playstation 2 is cheap compared to the other consoles and Buzz is an “adult” party game. Sony also has Buzz Jr., a package of twenty five mini games, slated for release to capture the elementary school demographic. There are future installments of Buzz! planned for a release such as a sports, Hollywood and music quiz discs for adults. For kids there is another set of mini games with a robot theme. Before any of the extra discs come out Buzz has to prove itself when it comes out this Fall.

Hey rowd I never said Buzz was good or bad, I’m just presenting it because it’s different. Different from everything else out there and you know at Siliconera we tend to focus on stuff that other sites miss. Anyway Buzz isn’t for the mainstream gaming audience, it’s for causal players who buy Scene It on DVD.

This game is so cool! I got hooked this last week whilst visiting the UK. I can’t wait for it to be released here. Any news when that will be?
