Hands on Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice

Nearly a year ago BigBig Studios developed Pursuit Force for the PSP and SCEA brought it over to North America. While Pursuit Force came and went I dug its simple premise where you jump from car to car shooting stereotypical criminals “in the name of justice”. Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice is clearly more of the same. The level I played started out in a helicopter that automatically flew around in a circle. The focus of this part of the mission was to shoot down a tank in the center and the hummers surrounding the tank. Not really a challenge since you have unlimited bullets. The only thing you have to watch out for is the machine gun overheating, which means you need to stop shooting every few seconds.

Once you damage the tank you jump into a car and Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice switches into a racing game. The goal is to drive behind the tank, close enough to let your partner plant a bombs on the back of it. While you’re trying to follow the tank gang members will drive up to your car and start shooting from the sides. In typical Pursuit Force fashion you can jump over to their car, shoot the drivers in mid air and steal their vehicle. This kind of over the top, arcade action is what makes Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice a blast to play. I was told Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice is scheduled for the PSP this fall, but there was no information about the Playstation 2 version that Europe is getting. While Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice is designed for short bursts of play I would much rather pick up the PS2 release and enjoy it on my TV instead of the tiny PSP screen.
