The anniversary collection on gamecube is NOT a better deal, because they reversed the button mapping from the original (for all the games!), rendering the games unplayable unless you twist your right hand around to try and make contact with the buttons with the correct fingers. They really dropped the ball with that collection for that reason.

That, and considering Siliconera is built on the presence of importing games, with many Japanese titles getting their own spotlight before they're even heard of Stateside, I'd find it a little odd if Spencer was against the method. ;)

Really, Mega Man would be the last video game series I'd ever think of downloading via the Virtual Console. There's no doubt about it, you're better off with the Anniversary Edition in this case, you get more bang for your buck.

Heh of course not, yeah you could use a Freeloader + a cube version of Mega Man AC to play through the Mega Man classics. It’s probably a lot cheaper too!

True, especially when you do the math.

[(Rockman 1 ~ 6) X $5 ] + Rockman7 at $8 = $38 US

Vs The GameCube collection at $20 on eBay (includes S&H) + the cost of a Freeloader (if you're in Europe it's a must anyway) is nothing when you consider that you're also getting the 2 arcade games and Rockman 8.

However, since Capcom skipped out on releasing the massive and cheap collection of Mega Man games the virtual console is the only legal way for European gamers to replay the Mega Man games short of owning the original cartridges.

Hey Spencer, I hope you're not implying that importing games and playing them on your domestic console is illegal.
