Final Fantasy: Anniversary Edition and the neon blue box

Final Fantasy: Anniversary Edition and the neon blue box

Square-Enix usually deviates from the centered logo on a white background Japanese box art when it comes to the Final Fantasy series. This time they gave the packaging for the US version of Final Fantasy: Anniversary Edition a chic look. They’ve got the warrior from the CG movie splattered on the front cover outlined in electric blue on black background, a significant change from a montage of the main cast seen in other Final Fantasy games. See what’s inside the box past the break.

The warrior is everywhere on the packaging even the registration card. Square-Enix USA must have really loved Amano’s illustration.

    Nice over. Too bad the US version of FF III DS took away the Amano background art. Just wondering, is there Jpn text option in this?

    Yeah Square-Enix kept the option for Japanese in the US release. You can choose either kana or full Japanese when you start the game.

    It’s lucky that us Europeans always get the nicer original Japanese boxart. I don’t understand why you guys in the US don’t as well- sure the boxarts had to be exciting ten-fifteen years or so ago, when Final Fantasy was relatively unknown in the West and had to catch the eye. But now as the biggest console RPG series across the world I think it looks nice to have them uniform boxes with the familiar white background and central logo. Oh well rant over ^_^;

    ^you’re kidding me right? This art pwns that white background with logo.

    Infact, the art received such a positive reaction, they’ve created t-shirts with them. I think I’ll try and get one of them too.

    Usually the traditional simple FF banner against the white background is good, but I would have to say the US one looks quite nice this time. And occassionally, some US covers actually outdo than the Jpn counterpart, such as “Lost in Blue” on the DS w/ the two anime-styled main characters , while in the Jpn version there’s only an island in 3-D.

    And w/ the Jpn text option included and a cheaper price tag, this version is a winner for me.
