I will add something. I'm surprise that a hardcore gaming site like Siliconera would be promoting a movie based game. Don't get me wrong, I love Harry Potter, out of all the $%#& coming out of Hollywood these days, the Harry Potter movies stand out as being very good, but then again, they are based on books.

My problem is that games based on movies are nothing but a sad attempt to cash in on a hype and I'm surprise that Siliconera would sunk into this kind of marketing. You want to promote games, no problems, but at lease make them real games. There's tone of grade A games out there, why not try to promote one of those?

Like I clearly stated (clean your contacts), it's not because it's a Harry Potter game, it's because it's a movie based game. Siliconera has a reputation of being an Hardcore gaming site, which deals with the best local games and best imported games. I simply would have ever expected something like this here.

Please, name me some movie to game titles that are worth spending $40 to $50 on.

Listen, I agree with you for the most part - you won't see me buy a movie title any time soon - but the fact is that about 20-30% of all movie games is at the very least decent. If you're a big fan of a certain movie, I can see someone buying that kind of game.

But because you want examples, here you go: Do a search on gamerankings for titles such as Harry Potter (scoring usually around 70%, which is not bad at all), Spider-Man 2 (with the console titles hitting the 80%), Godfather (75%) and Scarface (75%).

Yes, I know that the amount of movie titles that suck is huge, but there are also some that don't. Criticizing Siliconera for supporting a game that scored an average of 70% is rather silly, though.

I forgot Lego Star Wars, don't know if it counts as a movie title (given that it's a title based on movies, I'd say so) - I really enjoyed that one and it's worth buying. The first one scored around 80%, the second one 85%.

Game Ranking is nice, but there's so many wannabe gaming sites that are counted in there that it really spoils the rankings. You got ask yourself if these sites have actually played any games or if they are being paid to give good reviews. I mean why would a game like Harry Potter for XBOX360 get the same rating as Dead or Alive 4? You want a real score, you go to GameSpot, that's a no brainer. Harry Potter got 50%, Spider-Man 2 (which I admit was a good rental) got a 72%, Godfather 7.9 (admittedly great if you like this sort of violence simulation à la GTA) and Scareface got a 6.6.

As for Lego Star Wars, although I don't like anything with the name Star Wars on it, I know that they're amongst the best Star Wars games ever. Why? Simple, these games weren't made with the soul purpose of being released along side a movie. True, the first one came out before the 3rd movie, but the producers said that they weren't aiming for for a game and movie close release and that if it would have required more time to make it, then it would have been out after the movie.

Anyway, to conclude, a handful of above average movie games cannot compensate for the truck load of $#@& that's release during an entire year. In my book, unless you're 12 or under, there's really no excuse into spending your cash or time on these sad attempts to cash in on a hype.

That's the point of advertising. How many games have you seen with really cool ads which ended up sucking ballz for dinner? People associate popularity with something being good. The more ads for something, the more popular it will seem and the more temping the purchase. That's Advertising 101. Also, you got to keep in mind that most people that surf the internet are not like you and me, they are common people surfing the web and getting scammed by ads. If spam and ads didn't work, trust me, companies would have stopped using them long ago.

You clearly didn't understand the jist of my point. My point was that developers understandably release their games around the time of the movie, so they can make more money off of it. Why do they make more money off it? Because people interests in these games WILL be higher around when the movie has been released. So no, it's NOT all about hype, and I never said it was.

Yes I do have a bad memory, more precisely, it's called a Selective Memory. My brain basically flushes out what it find to be of no use (no offense). Some people see this as an inconvenient, I see this as an advantage for 2 reasons:

1- We get distracted by our good memories everyday, even more for people with ADD such as myself. I can't imagine how annoying it would be to be distracted by useless memories while trying to remove the jumpers of a HardDrive while it's still in the computer with all the IDE and Power cables still attached.

When a company gives out freebies to the website or TV Show, they expect them to give them out to the audience, that my friend, is advertising, more precisely, FREE advertising. How does it work? Don't recall any title of the past, but if it helps to clear something out, there's a difference between a title that has the potential to be good and a title that never had any. No one expect a license movie game to be good, but we could expect a SquareEnix RPG to be good. If a SquareEnix RPG fails, well that's that, it had the potential, but didn't live up to the hype. Now let's see what's movie is coming soon... ah yes, Rush Hour 3. I don't know if they plan to make a game out of this movie, but I think we can all agree that if they do, it will most likely suck and it probably won't have the real voice actors :P

This is what proves to me you're not to smart. As I had REITERATED, the jist of my point was that developers should release their game around the time of the movie, so they make more money. But what do you do, you once again dismiss that, and focus on the stupid hype thing...AGAIN, why do you sidestep? Make sure to put enough gas in your Jaguar before going to GameStop to buy the game version of Ratatouille.

See now this is where the delusion comes in strong. In this phrase, you are stating that your someone important and that you are giving me a privilege to me by allowing me to reply to you. Alex, you're not important, on the Internet, you're just another user. What do you do or say will not change anything and if you were to stop visiting (let's say you get hit by a car), the world and the Internet will keep on turning. So no, I will not stop replying and not, I will not keep my comments to myself and no, I don't think I'm wrong and you know you what, there's nothing you can do. On the Internet, you are nothing and can do nothing (well except for flaming, but no one ever dies from being flamed to death).
