Multiplayer modes in Beautiful Katamari

Famitsu has a few tidbits about the new online mode in Beautiful Katamari. After logging on to Xbox Live up to four players can enter a match where they competitively grow their katamaris. Similar to the two player modes you can roll over another player and stick them on your katamari if you are large enough. It’s nothing revolutionary, but rolling over three other players sounds good to me. There are offline multiplayer modes in Beautiful Katamari too. The two player cooperative mode from We Love Katamari returns as well as the split screen multiplayer.

Also be sure to see the massive gallery of pictures over at Famitsu, including a preview of the story. The King of All Cosmos opens up a black hole during a tennis match and it sucks in all the stars. The poor, tiny prince has to restore the stars again. Will he ever get a break? Or a new reason to roll stuff into a katamari?

Depending on how well the multiplayer online works via Xbox Live Beautiful Katamari has the potential to be the best title in the series yet. Along with the addition of achievements, these new features can add some welcome replay value to a tried-and-true formula.

Last Katamari you could roll over people as well if you were larger.
