Nintendo has plans to bring out a Wii Zapper shell that holds the nunchuck and the remote. The Zapper is going to be sold this holiday season with a package of software for $19.99 I’m hoping a Duck Hunt is going be part of the package, but no titles have been announced.

Hopefully with the Wii Zapper nearing release this holiday, we can see more light gun games pop up for release on the Wii in the near future. Ghost Squad and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is a good start, but I’d love to see a light gun renaissance on the system.

I’d much prefer a machine gun add on than a standard gun shaped add on for Ghost Squad. But still, a gun shaped hand is waaay better than a remote shaped hand if you’re shooting the crap out of something on screen.

After 22 years, Duck Hunt 2, now that would be news. Keep your eyes open for that one Spencer.

You know, I’d actually be surprised if Nintendo didn’t include Duck Hunt in their collection of software to be bundled with the Wii Zapper. Sure, it was already included in Wii Play, but Duck Hunt would work so well with the Zapper that it goes without reason this should be the first game to be included in the line-up.

Thankfully, in our best interests the Wii Zapper is retailing for $19.99 with bundled software in the exact opposite move of Wii Play, now that was a game which should have received such a low bargaining price in the first place. The only reason worth buying it in the first place was for the extra Wii remote, as the game selection was rather poor at best outside of Duck Hunt.

Luckily, with the Zapper hitting retail at such a low price point, even if the software leaves much to be desired, at the very least, most won’t feel as if they were scammed out of their money. Best of all, with the Wii Zapper’s potential of ushering in a new wave of light gun shooters from third party developers, this could make for a great investment.
