Mini Screen Gallery - Rygar: The Battle of Argus

By Spencer . July 17, 2007 . 12:02pm

Now that the E3 hype has died down Tecmo released the first gameplay screens of Project Rygar (aka Rygar: The Battle of Argus in North America). According to Tecmo’s press release Rygar is scheduled to come out sometime in 2007 in Japan. I wonder what motions they are going to use to throw the disk armor and if Rygar is going to be nightmarishly difficult like the NES game.

Roli Says:

Don’t you mean nightmarishly difficult like the PS2 version? The PS2 game was harder than Shinobi…seriously. :( Here’s hoping Rygar Wii sees a U.S. release.

Wengus Says:

This time round they should make it more forgiving because this time round they have a new control system. Before it was your thumbs and the buttons, now its arms and shoulders with gestures.

Tron Says:

If the PS2 version did poorly, why would Tecmo think that this port would do any better?

Waggle can only do so much for a game’s playability.

Veilknight Says:

Actually, Rygar: The Battle of Argus is built from the ground up for the Wii. This game has nothing in common with The Legendary Adventure other than being touted by Tecmo as the sequel.

Even the look and feel of the game, especially the main character, is radically different from its predecessor if you had played the PS2 installment.

@Veilknight

I wish that were true, but Famitsu seems to believe that it is a port of the PS2 game. :(

If you have proof that this is an all-new game, I would LOVE to see it!

Booman Says:

Well I can definetly tell that the third picture there is the Poseidonia Shrine from Legendary Adventure, that big enemy was never there in the Ps2 game(and I’m pretty sure of it since i have it) so I guess that’s a way of saying it’s a all-new game?
