I remember there being talks of a sequel to Sonic Riders by Takashi Yuda, the game's producer, during its development over at Sonic Team. To see something come out of that is quite surprising, as speculating about a future installment, yet alone a trilogy, has only yielded disappointment when it never happens (I'm still waiting for Shenmue 3, Sega).

Sonic Riders lackluster appeal, and sales, also pointed to the general consumption that if a follow up was ever planned, it was eventually scrapped. I'd hesitate before spending $50 on the Wii version, yet alone $30 for the PS2 release, which means my decision to even buy this title depends on good review scores across the board or if I enjoy Zero Gravity when I rent it.
