Beautiful Katamari meets Xbox Live

Namco Bandai is adding some neato additions fueled by Xbox Live for Beautiful Katamari. For competitive gamers there is a four player versus mode coined the “thingy battle.” Before the battle starts the King of All Cosmos shows the players an object and the goal is to roll up as much of that object as possible. There are five different stages to play in and having random items might increase the replay value of this mode.

Then there are worldwide leaderboards that keep track of found presents, cousins and the collective size of all the Katamari’s created. The latter is reflected by a cow on the Everyone’s Katamari planet, which grows in size with each new Katamari. Moo?

I really liked the original games… I think having an online component like this (even in simple terms to compare my scores with friends) is really going to shoot up the replay value for me.

I just hope the game is cheap.

I’ve never played the original games. So I’m looking forward to this. Too bad I have to wait for my ‘360 to be returned from the repair center.

Based on the pricing of the original games, I do not want to pay more than $39.99 for this on the ‘360.
