Try as Sega might, they just can't keep Samba De Amigo for the Wii a secret. There were rumors of it a while back, and recently rumors resurfaced again. Now the game is showing up on GameStop release lists, with a (no doubt temporary) release date of February 5th, 2008.
Now, keep in mind that this is in no way a confirmation that the game is actually coming out, but it makes it all that much more likely. Let's just hope that Sega can do a good job with this. Samba De Amigo is probably the most perfect series that Sega could revive for the Wii. Now all that's left is to wait for word of the inevitable maraca attachments for the Wii Remote. Come on. You KNOW it's gonna happen.
The list also semi-confirms Temco's commitment to Pangya with Super Swing Golf 2 and mentions Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. But you should know about the latter because we mentioned it last week.
When Sega had that poll on their site for which franchise to revive on the Wii, I was screaming for Samba de Amigo. It was the only one that made sense.
Instead, the fans asked them to destroy their beloved NiGHTS. When that comes out and sucks, the fanboys will only have themselves to blame.
Although I already own Samba De Amigo on the Dreamcast, if Sega were to ever develop a new version exclusively on the Wii I’d buy it in a heart beat for a budget price. While the DC release was a more of a sleeper hit I really think this game has the potential to catch on with the casual audience and actually have a strong chance of selling really well as a result.
I know for sure Samba De Amigo would be a great party game to play whenever you have friends or family over. This is just the sort of title that can bring everyone in the room together for a few laughs and excitement. I just hope Sega has something new planned in the song department, the core game mechanic can stay the same, just have some fresh new songs to shake your maracas to.

Kind of a no brainer, I mean the Wiimote and Nunchuk are the closes thing to the Maracas controllers.
