Atari Classics evolved on the PSP

We mentioned this before as a rumor, now we have news from Atari that a PSP compilation of Atari games is set to come out this fall. Eleven of the games will have an “evolved” edition which has the same gameplay, but new graphics. These games have an evolved and original version on the UMD disc:

 

Asteroids

Asteroids Deluxe

Battlezone

Centipede

Lunar Lander

Millipede

Missile Command

Super Breakout

Tempest

Warlords

Pong

 

Considering the overlap between the evolved games and Atari’s Xbox Live Arcade titles it is possible some of the titles like Missile Command are going to be scaled down Xbox Live Arcade ports. Other 2600 games in the compilation include Night Driver, Canyon Bomber, Crystal Castles and Yar’s Revenge.  There are going to be over 60 Atari games in this bundle and the eleven coin-op games are going to have online leaderboards so you can prove your Asteroids skill to the world.
