Reader Response: NIS America on the DS, what do you want to see?

By Spencer . August 26, 2007 . 12:00am

prinny.jpgDid you catch our discussion with NIS America? They want to know which of their titles you want to see on the Nintendo DS besides Disgaea.

If you can translate one NIS America game other than Disgaea to the DS what would it be?

This question is more like what we would like to ask you guys. :)

If I could only pick one series, I’m going with Grim Grimoire because the DS’ touch screen is a perfect fit for a real time strategy game. Also I imagine online play through Nintendo Wi-Fi would be an excellent addition Grim Grimoire. But this isn’t about me. It’s about you and your dream of Hayarigami DS or the next installment in the Rhapsody series. Post requests for a Phantom Brave remake or whatever you want them to work on here and I’ll send over the responses directly to NIS America on September 1st.

I’m a huge fan of Atelier series :)

doc_bungle Says:

I’d love to see a sequel for La Pucelle on the Nintendo DS. Or at least a remake of the first game with enough new content. :/

Anttichan Says:

I agree on Grim Grimoire, but isn’t that a VanillaWare game? I mean, NIS did publish it but they don’t own the license or anything do they (I honestly dont know)?
Otherwise, Hayarigami would be cool for the DS.
I have never played it, but the idea of a horror adventure game for the DS seems awesome to me.

Anon Says:

More games from the Marl series. Especially Little Princess and Angel’s Present. Enhanced ports or even remakes would be awesome.

It would be great if we could finally have the two sequels to Rhapsody out in North America.

Steve Says:

Any NIS style SRPG. Turn based action on the go is always a treat. Plus, it’s easier to imagine me picking it up frequently on the go when I have downtime, rather than sitting in front of a tv for the amount of time you can end up putting into a game like Disgaea. Case in point, FF: Tactics Advance is the most time I have ever spent with an RPG but I don’t think I would have done it if I couldn’t pick it up for 15 to 30 minutes at a time to fight a battle or two.

ilmb13 Says:

I vote for Phantom Brave or Grim Grimoire.

Lila Says:

The two sequels of marl series and the other atelier! Pretty please!

Drkirby Says:

I want a Phantom Brave remake or Sequel, or at the very least a game that uses the same interface.

jeffx Says:

Anything from the Atelier series. Anything at all.

Pichi Says:

Grim Grimoire, Marl series, or something from the Atelier series. Any NIS style SRPG is good for me too!

matty Says:

Marl Kingdom / Rhapsody series, please!
Yes, they’re pretty old games, but the saga needs a conclusion.

And apparently there’s a pretty strong fanbase for the series as well.

Polo Says:

Marl or Atelier series!

David Says:

Definitely the Marl Kingdom series. I would give anything to have them bring over the other 2 games. Even a remake of Rhapsody would be great if they bumped up the challenge and redid the dungeons.

NinNinNin Says:

Ports of the marl games! Rhapsody was great, I would love to have the sequel and Angel Present in english.

Taylor Says:

Personally? La Pucelle. Mastiff butchered that game when it came to censoring, and the lack of New Game + was almost horrific. If they could ever bring that over again without Mastiff involved, I’d be happy.

the_importer Says:

Other than Disgaea?!?!? Sounds like they’re trying to keep Disgaea a SONY exclusive. F#$% that, bring Disgaea to DS first, then we’ll talk about other titles.

Zackstifw Says:

I’d like to see some Marl Kingdom series. I just started playing Rhapsody recently and I really would like to play the whole series.

Hello Hello Says:

La Pucelle!:)

SWAT128 Says:

GfaqsMan Says:

John Says:

I would love to see the two sequels of marl kingdon in english, and it wouldn’t hurt to see the other atelier too ^^

Sandnite Says:

I’d like to see the Marl Kingdom series brought over. A remake of Rhapsody would be cool too.

mcalchera Says:

Marl Kingdom would be greatly enjoyed.

JeremyR Says:

They said “other than Disagea” because there is already a Disgaea game for the DS in the works…

breadinabox Says:

Marl Kingdom for sure.

SovietRus Says:

Atelier, Because there’s already one out… Translation Please? And thank you.

JeremyR Says:

Anyway, just to be fair, they should translate a crappy Idea Factory game. If the PSP had to suffer from them, so should the DS…

mikael Says:

Hayarigami did sound very interesting,so id get my vote out for it :) on the ds..

Yams Says:

I’d really like to see either La Pucelle or the Marl Kingdom series personally. Both are very good, and deserving of more publicity in my opinion.

Andaryu Says:

What about a better version of Makai Kingdom? Like a sequal or something.

Am I the only one who loved that game? :P

Saithus Says:

I hope thye get this response! I’d personally love to see another traditional RPG on the DS. I love strategy games and all that good stuff. But I’d have to say Atelier Iris then. And please be sure to release Disgaea!

Oh btw thank you so much NIS for releasing games that would of possibly never been release over here in America.

Hello Hello Says:

A Makai Kingdom sequel would be awesome too. More Overlord Zetta!

some dood Says:

Gotta have the conclusion of the Marl Kingdom series. Rhapsody was great and America needs to be able to finish the saga.

FlamingMoogles Says:

1. La pucelle
2. Makai kingdom.

great games…enjoyed them more than disgaea

MarlFan Says:

More Marle Kingdom & Atelier games please.

Also, on a non-DS related note: Please bring over Ar-tonelico 2 and Mana Khemia on PS2.

CrimsonImpact Says:

Marl kingdom……

superdry Says:

I would love to see Lise no Atelier released here in the US.

Dekar the Great Says:

Marl Kingdom plzthx. Both sequels to Rhapsody.

Rawr Says:

Rhapsody remake for DS

Rawr Says:

Yeah. Also…La Pucelle remake with extra content such as a better secret dungeon.
What they said also. Rhapsody remake must be updated with it’s level of gaming difficulty.

CharmanderDeath Says:

Rhapsody!!!

Cookiemancer Neozle Says:

More Marl Kingdom. Much more.

honiberri Says:

Marl Kingdom. Rhapsody, Angel’s Present, Cornet Scratches Her Behind, anything. We’re dying here!

InvisibleYogurt Says:

More than anything else, I really want to see Hayarigami get a DS stateside release in America. It looks very unique and compelling, and visual novel-style games have been proven to work well on the DS, look at Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk; not to mention that those mentioned games and others have vastly increased the genre’s popularity and marketability outside of Japan.

Alex Says:

Second for Hayarigami

jeremy Says:

Yeah, if Hayarigami is a detective game I am all for it.

Me Says:

definately the Marl Kingdom series

Supersonic VM Says:

I would prefer Atelier Lise first and foremost, we need some more of the traditional Atelier games. The Marl Kingdom series, or a La Pucelle remake would be good.

Aside from those, any other unique game would be fine.

Iris Says:

Definitely the Marl Kingdom/Rhapsody series! Its highly underrated and there are some real diehard fans out there (myself included).

MyNameIsClaimed Says:

I’d really like to see the whole Marl Kingdom series get translated, to what system I care not.

Zil88 Says:

Rhapsody PLEASEEEEEEEE!

Taylor Says:

The Marl Kingdom series, hands down.

Jordan Jones Says:

Marls Kingdom all the way!! sequel to rhapsody or remake or anything to do with it!!

NyankoxRanRan Says:

MORE MARL! For sure. It would be nice if the rest of the series came to North America.

Kay Says:

Seems like a lot more people than I thought enjoyed Rhapsody as much as I did. Marl Kingdom all the way!
