Luminous Arc 2 announced with a branching story

It looks like Luminous Arc isn’t going to be a shot deal. Marvelous Interactive is making it a series with a Nintendo DS sequel. And already Luminous Arc 2 has a few attractive features. The most notable one is a story line that changes depending on how you play the game. Another change is you use the unit link ability to pair the protagonist up with a witch. Yeah, witches are back for the sequel too. I guess it wouldn’t be a Luminous Arc game without them. While we just got Luminous Arc last month, Luminous Arc 2 is scheduled to come out this winter in Japan.

That sounds very interesting to me. Hopefully there are many witches to choose from!

Nice. I passed on the first since it didn’t seem to offer anything new in the SRPG genre, but branching storylines? It’s got to tip its hat towards Tactics Ogre for that one… nothing quite beat the branching there. So long as I don’t get a horribly crappy ending, I’d give LA2 a shot, for sure.

Excellent! Like what I’m hearing about the changes.

I didn’t like the story for the 1st luminous arc. It totally sucks. And I hate priel’s english voice and dialogue. Annoying bitch -_-;
I hope the 2nd one is better. Gameplay is good though….

I can’t believe you’d pass on a game just because “it didn’t offer anything new.” With standards like that you should be playing, like, zero games per year.

I hope you at least give it a rental, as the game system, while not new, is solid. The characters and character dialogue are much better than in most games, as well.

I’m excited about some of the things I’m seeing in the second like the “Counter!”, 4-digit damage, and piercing arrow shots. Go Imageepoch!

I also agree with you, SomeDude! Really people, if a TV show or movie didn’t offer anything “new” you would just skip it all?? IMO, I think you’ll be missing ALOT of games you might never know that you were interested in.
