Threads of Fate and the sequel that never was

duop.jpgSquare-Enix has been digging up many of their older games, but the quirky platformer RPG, Threads of Fate, still hasn’t gotten a proper sequel. Never fear though the doujin market has an unofficial sequel that throws the spoiled Princess Mint into another game. Duo Princess makes Maya, Mint’s younger sister, a playable character. And poor Rue, the other playable character in Threads of Fate, is reduced to a cameo. Ouch. I guess shape shifting into monsters isn’t nearly as cool as whining about not being crowned a princess.

Looks pretty interesting but I can’t imagine it being nearly as enjoyable with different music. It has one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard in a Playstation game.

Wow, I completely forgot about this until now. I might have to dust off the old playstation disc and give it a spin. It’s interesting that they doujin game looks more top-down isometric now instead of the more 3D perspective of the original.
