Bemani reimagined, Jubeat is the future?

jubeat.jpgExciting news popped up at Bemanistyle over the holiday weekend about a brand new Bemani game, Jubeat. Unlike Guitar Freaks and Beatmania, Jubeat does not mimic an instrument. Instead players listen to audio cues and hit square shaped buttons when they light up. Jubeat machines are also equipped with local multiplayer and online play. Sounds like this neato project could be ported to the Nintendo DS one day.

I’ve seen games like this (without the music aspect) on Japanese TV for a while. I guess this is a progression from Pop’n Music?
