Rayman, Street Fighter Alpha, PsOne Classics?

By Spencer . January 4, 2008 . 1:25pm

sfa.jpgOK, we’re nowhere close to the library of PsOne classics on the Japan’s PlayStation Store, but we may get games not on their list. The ESRB updated their list with Rayman and Street Fighter Alpha rated as PSP/PlayStation 3 games, which suggests they are going to be added to the PlayStation Store in the future. I’m hesitant to get Street Fighter Alpha because sequels are sure to pop up online, but $5.99 for classic Rayman sounds like a reasonable deal.

I think I’ll probably pass on Street Fighter Alpha, as I already own that game and the entire series on Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on PS2, but Rayman sounds good nonetheless. Thanks in part to the title’s gorgeous, 2D graphics Rayman’s world sprung to life, proving without a doubt at the time 2D sprites have what it takes to stand up to the best 3D polygons have to offer. As a matter of fact, I’d go as far as saying Rayman has aged more graphically compared to your typical 3D title released in 1995. This only goes to show the true lasting power of Rayman’s first outing in the platforming realm.

Yeah Street Fighter Alpha Anthology is an awesome deal, now if only Capcom wold release Street Fighter Anniversary over in PAL regions. >

I’ll get SFAlpha….’cause…you know…gotta catch ‘em all…oh! Wrong game. Phooey! Still getting it ’cause I likes me some Street Fighter. Keeps the collection that much more “complete”, see (even though I’m missing a bunch of titles…)

rayman was my first ps1 game back in ‘95. i damn near cried when i saw all that slowdown after having traded in my snes, genesis, and all accompanying games to buy a 300 dollar 2D-incapable turd box that would eventually cease playing games in the proper upright position. rayman still proved to be fun despite the slowdown.
