When I think of Benssee Corporation I’m immediately reminded of Berlitz’s one minute English training lessons on subways in Japan. I don’t think of Nintendo DS games. However, they are beginning to publish Nintendo DS games and Kuukan * Zukei Hirameki Training Kuutore doesn’t look half bad. The title tests how players can perceptually place objects by showing a scenario on the top screen and possible answers on the bottom. The game is “intelligent” and it’s being developed by none other than Intelligent Systems.
I never realized the Paper Mario / Advance Wars / Fire Emblem developer took on outside projects since they are an internal Nintendo development studio, but Benessee credits them as the developer of their suite of Nintendo DS games at the bottom of their DS games page. Now, I’m even more curious! Why Nintendo didn’t publish these games as first party Touch Generations games? Perhaps, the cutesy mascot characters didn’t fit the adult friendly brand?
