Echochrome arrives in North America earlier than Summer

By Spencer . February 20, 2008 . 7:32pm

While continuing to dig around for a solid answer on the PSP version of Echochrome I spoke to Scott Goryl, a Public Relations Specialist from SCEA, who told me Echochrome is actually on target for a Spring release in North America. However, this date is currently only for the PlayStation 3 version. They are evaluating the PSP version and if they will bring it to North America or not. (This is consistent with the earlier report I wrote up.)

I followed up with questions about the extra levels, if they would come out as a download pack, and if the canvas mode will remain part of the PlayStation 3 package. In response he explained, the feature list for the PlayStation 3 version has not been announced yet.

Hmm… I wonder why they are hesitant to release the PSP version. I mean, they’ll just make more money, you know?

  • I really think SCEA has something against the PSP. There’s a ton of games from Sony of Japan they haven’t released in the US (especially RPGs); they missed putting out Wipeout for Xmas (despite it already being in English), thus meaning the PSP had no major games in December; they put little effort into their PSP sports titles (MLB: The Show baseball still has no umpires or franchise mode, and is usually shipped with some major bugs); They port pretty much every PSP exclusive of their own to the PS2.

And lets not get started about the hardware. Still no GPS or PSP Camera, despite them being released in what, 05 in Japan? (maybe 06 for the GPS, but the camera was pretty early)

I wish they’d just say if it was coming or not…

I’m going to Japan in April. If I know for sure the US PSP release was canned, I’ll just pick up it up there.
