Episode II of the Final Fantasy IV sequel switches protagonists from Cecil’s son, Ceodore, to an even more grown up Rydia. Her tale takes place in the Underworld where the summoner encounters familiar characters like King Giott and brand new party members like Luca, the first dwarf on the team. Luca learned how to maintain airships from Cid and retains Cid’s Peep skill (shiraberu). Luca also has the ability to throw items like Edge, which will probably come in handy when the group fights Trapdoors in the Sealed Cave.

While we might not get to play Final Fantasy IV: The After for a long time, you can see how the main characters look post-Big Whale by browsing through the character page on the official site. Don’t worry it’s entirely in English.

Rolando Says:

I seriously wouldn’t put it past me if at some point Square-Enix just decides to compile all episodes of Final Fantasy IV: The After and make it into a complete DS game. Maybe not; but after seeing what their doing with Front Mission 2089, one can think so.

Some of those designs look…interesting. Especially Cecil’s design.

I’m still angered by this game being on cell phones! Seriously, the DS is white hot in Japan and they are choosing to develop for cell phones?! Argh…

Keriaku Says:

It’s because they’re releasing in episodes, which is only really possible on cell phones
