Arc System Works is getting into the microtransaction groove with Guilty Gear II Overture by charging a small fee to play as the boss character Raven. I don’t remember him being a playable character in any other Guilty Gear game so this may be a first. The experience will cost 400 Microsoft Points ($5) when the appropriate item appears on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
However, it might not cost anything when Aksys releases Guilty Gear II Overture in North America. They are adding extra content not found in the Japanese release in the US version.
In case you’re wondering what Raven actually does, take a look at this clip.

@ James:
Then you don’t have to play as Raven. There’s plenty of other characters, this is just bonus content that one really doesn’t need.
I for one think it’s cool that they’re giving the game more support. (though as a GG fanboy i’m a little biased) My only real concern is hoping that he’s balanced, so that people willing to pay don’t have an unfair advantage.
That said, i’m also curious what other characters they may release at this rate. (That Man, perhaps?) I don’t even know if Ky himself is a playable character. Could someone answer that for me?
actually ky is a playable character in this game… i actually found that out recently by looking at gameplay videos of the game… they even have his theme holy orders which is awesomer then ever u should check it out
When I read the headline, I though you had to pay to fight against him (in game), maybe when you die or something. That would be gratuitous.

I am not liking this trend of paying multiple times for a game I should have gotten in full when I first drop cash on it.
