Hammerin’ Harry as an anime series and a pachislot machine

Hammerin Harry as an anime series and a pachislot machine images

Siliconera commenter Mazen actually mentioned this back in April (thanks!!), but now Ikuze! Gen-san (Let’s Go! Gensan) is out and a select few people may recognize the main character. Irem teamed up with an animation studio to make a slapstick comedy anime. I don’t think this was broadcast on TV, but there are DVDs floating around with an original story.

What is even more unusual is the number of pachinko and pachislot machines with Hammerin’ Harry branding. After the giant hammer swinging Game Boy games, Hammerin’ Harry was primarily found in pachinko parlors until Irem decided to bring him back into games this year. Irem hasn't given any signs this will be localized, but I think someone will publish it outside of Japan. However, the game may not be called Hammerin' Harry since the trademark expired a long time ago.

A Hammering' Harry autobiography would be an interesting read…

I think the anime was broadcast via cellphones.

Thank you, glad that I contributed for the best site ever.
and am sad that this game didn't crack the top 50 in its first week hopefully the anime will rise interest in the game.
  • @Mazen - Thanks for contributing. :) Unfortunately for Irem this game barely got noticed. I think they really need to ping publications and say "hey! this game is coming out on this date." At the very least it would notify people such and such game exists at the best it would bolster hype.
