Is Square Enix localizing Valkyrie Profile DS?

vplogo.jpgSpeaking of Square Enix, the publisher recently trademarked “Covenant of the Plume”. I’m guessing this is going to be the US subtitle for Valkyrie Profile: Toga wo Seou Mono. I know it doesn’t translate into anything like Valkyrie Profile: The Accused Ones, but the logo has a plume on it. Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume has a nice ring to it too.

What do you think? Does this sound right? Or is Covenant of the Plume going to be used for another Final Fantasy XI expansion pack? As always a trademark doesn't mean a game is in development or will be used. Square Enix never got around to releasing Fantasy Earth. However, the Last Hope and Chapters of the Chosen were used for Star Ocean 4 and Dragon Quest IV respectively.

Wait, SE never release Fantasy Earth?

Since SE doesn’t have any other IP that hasn’t received their English subtitle, guess that’s that.

  • @Archer – It’s out in Japan and Asia, but not the US.

Sounds like a logical fit… hopefully it means a western release sooner rather than later.

Quick offtopic note now that we’re talking localizations, but Marvelous inadvertently confirmed Avalon Code was release in America and Europe this year in their investor sales projections. Figures shamelessly stolen from NeoGAF…

  • @jarrod – Oh wow! Thanks for the tip :) Avalon Code always seemed like a shoe-in, but it’s good to know we’re getting it.

The title “The Accused One” is its actual name on tri-Ace’s English site, so I think I’ll stick with that.
