Populous DS still features the Famicom

fds.jpgWay before Xseed announced they were localizing Populous DS we discovered Electronic Arts has a stage called the Bit Plane which features Nintendo hardware as civilizations. You start out with a Game & Watch progress to the Wii. Since Populous DS was designed for Japan the Famicom and Famicom Disc System are part of the evolution. I asked Xseed if there were plan to change the Famicom to a NES, but as you can see in the screenshot there aren’t sprite swaps.

Something I wasn’t aware of was a Hide & Seek mini-game in Populous DS, which is similar to electronic Where’s Waldo. You scan a civilization for people wearing red shirts and specific duos of people clashing swords until the time runs out.
